The suicide attack on the USS Cole in the Yemeni port city of Aden.
Explosives hidden on a fishing boat manned by al-Qaida terrorists ripped an enormous hole -- six by 12 meters (19 by 39 feet) -- into the hull of the American destroyer Cole, killing 17 American sailors.
