Inaugural summit of the Union for the Mediterranean
In France, President Nicolas Sarkozy, flanked by President Hosni Mubarak and United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon, and with more than 40 leaders — representing some 756 million people — opened a summit to launch a new union of Mediterranean nations.
