	Russia's national defense budget for 2009 reaches some 40 bln USD

	Russia's national defense budget for 2009 stood at 1.3 trillion rubles (about 39.6 billion U.S. dollars), First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Wednesday. The government will allocate 322 billion rubles to purchase weapons, and the rest of the fund will be spent on construction, fuel storage and food supply, Ivanov told Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Ivanov also said Russia had completed all its state defense orders for 2008 on time. "We delivered 17 ICBMs, four Iskanders, 52 T-90 tanks, 210 APCs,41 BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, 34 missiles for the S-400 air defense system, 152 pieces of ordnance equipment and mortars, 4,500 vehicles," Ivanov was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency. A senior Russian official said last December that the Russian government will spend some 4 trillion rubles in purchasing weapons from 2009 to 2011.
